Nadyamsa from Parasara's shodasa vargas

Namaste Graham,

> But as far as I know, no version of Parasara uses
> or mentions the D-150.

That's partly true and partly inaccurate.

Parasara may not have mentioned nadyamsa. But nadyamsa, as I understand it, is rooted in shodasa varga (16 divisions) taught by Parasara.

Some people divide each sign into 150 equal parts and call them the 150 nadyamsas.

But we use a different kinds of nadyamsa. Both the varieties are available in the free software Jagannatha Hora 7.02.

In this variety (called "Chandra Kala Nadi" in the software), we mark the boundaries of various vargas in rasis. For example, navamsa borders are at 3 deg 20 min, 6 deg 40 min, 10 deg etc. Dasamsa borders are at 3 deg, 6 deg, 9 deg etc. Chaturvimsamsa borders are at 1 deg 15 min, 2 deg 30 min, 3 deg 45 min, 5 deg etc.

If we mark the boundaries within each sign based on all the sixteen divisions and count how many distinct partitions are in the sign, we will get exactly 150 portions! Some portions are smaller than 12 arc-min and some are bigger. But, there are exactly 150 unequal portions as a result of dividing the rasi based on shodasa vargas.

Chandra kala means phases of Moon and means 16. So we call this "Chandra Kala Nadi", i.e. nadi from 16 [vargas].

If you ask me, this is the correct nadyamsa and the one obtained from uniform division of a sign into 150 equal parts is wrong. Thus, nadyamsa is rooted in shodasa varga.

Each nadi is basically a unique combination of shodasa varga parts.

----------------------------------------------

Nadi texts talk of dividing nadis into 2 or 4 or 6 equal parts. There are various results based on these.

However, these can be applied to non-uniform nadis based on shodasa vargas too. In fact, I think that nly non-uniform nadis based on shodasa varga boundaries should be used.

In the next public release of the free software Jagannatha Hora, I will include information on which half, which 1/3rd, which 1/4th, which 1/5th and which 1/6th of the nadi is occupied by various planets, upagrahas, lagnas and other bodies. I will give that ability based on both uniform and non-uniform nadis. This can enable new research.

Pt Sanjay Rath already requested these features to be added and they are easy to do in software. When you are checking manually, these things are cumbersome to check, especially if you have to use the non-uniform nadis based on shodasa varga boundaries! Software can do it very easily.

The sub-nadi principles can be valuable in finding the right ayanamsa.

May Jupiter's light shine on us,
Narasimha

As can be be seen from the above list not all divisional charts are needed to make the Nadiamsha (150) division of the zodiac.
The Mininum Parasari Divisions needed to make 150 inequal division of the zodiac are as listed below in the table.
They are D7, D16, D24, D27, D40, D45 and D60

The Nadiamsha is also referred as naadiamsa, naadi amsa, Naadi Jyotish, Nadi readings etc.
This shows that Parasari sixteen divisions and Nadi Jyotish are related. Each individual construction of divisional charts like D3 (cyclic, parasari etc) can vary but the degree boundaries would remain same. So Parashara's basic sixteen divisional charts lead to 150 division of each sign or 150x12=1800 divisions of whole zodiac.

Tendulkar's world record in Test 2 or 3?

Tendulkar's world record in Test 2 or 3?
By Sri PVR Narasimha Rao

Namaste friends,

I wrote when the second Test at Calcutta between India and Paksitan was just starting:

> However, when I try to shun my bias as a big Tendulkar fan
> and look at it objectively, I tend to think that Tendulkar will
> miss the record in this Test too and achieve it on March
> 25th (i.e. in the 3rd test).

As I wrote, Tendulkar missed the record in the second Test. Tendulkar batted in both the innings and made good scores (half centuries) in both innings, but failed to finish a century and overtake Sunil Gavaskar's world record of 35 Test centuries.

This is one prediction I would've honestly been very very very happy to get wrong!

I was in a hurry when I wrote the above. Now I want to give the rest of the reasoning behind it.

I have already mentioned that annual mahadasa and antardasa of the 9th and 5th lords who have a "subha kartari" on 5th in D-10 of annual chart (TP) are running during March 16-28 and that there is a good chance of success.

Now, the question is: Why did I pick the third test at Bangalore (March 24-28) instead of the second test at Calcutta (March 16-20)? Let me answer that.

I looked at another dasa called "Padanaathaamsa dasa" (available in JHora 7.02). I looked at Padanaathaamsa dasa of D-10. The dasa of Ta runs from March 16 to April 18. As we have seen earlier, Ta is the 5th house in D-10. Its has subha kartari from 9th and 5th lords (Mercury and Venus), whose mahadasa and antardasa run as per annual Tithi Ashtottari dasa. It fits nicely and shows some achievement during March 16-April 18.

Now, to go deeper, use the 3 parts rule. Ta is a prishthodaya rasi. It gives its results in the 3rd one-third. Its lord Venus is in a seershodaya rasi. He will give his results in the first one-third.

So Venus gives his results in the first one-third. We can further sub-divide the one-third into 4 quarters. Being a benefic, Venus gives the results of the house he occupies in the first quarter, the results of the houses owned in the second quarter, the results of his yogas in the third quarter and the results of his avasthas in the last quarter.

Thus, Venus gives the results of the subha kartati yoga he and Mercury have on Ta during the 3rd quarter of the first one-third of the Ta dasa. This comes to March 23-25. The third test is from March 24 to March 28. This was one reason for me to think Sachin will miss the record in the second Test.

I also looked at the daily Tithi Pravesha charts during the second and third Tests. The daily charts during March 16-20 were good but not great. I did not see any of them suggesting a new world record.

But I was impressed by the daily charts of March 24-27. Especially look at the daily chart of March 25. This chart is cast at 9:29 am on March 25. Moon is the hora lord and hence the ruler of the day. In rasi chart, Moon and Jupiter conjoin in the 5th house and there are several raja yogas on the 5th/11th axis.

Gaja-Kesari yoga in the 5th house involving the ruler of the day can show that the day produces some achievement that will be remembered for a while. Thje same Moon (ruler of the day) is exalted in the 5th house in D-10 and takes part in a raja yoga with 9th lord Mercury. Thus, the day can certainly bring some nice achievement.

The chart of 24th too looks good. Mars is the ruler of the day. He owns lagna and is exalted in 10th in rasi. In D-10, he is yoga karaka and occupies his own sign and gives ruchaka yoga. Clearly, March 24 too can be a day of a brave effort.

So, if I have to make an honest prediction based on astrological factors alone, I have to guess that Tendulkar will make his world record 35th Test century on March 24th or 25th (mostly March 25th). That is why I wrote what I wrote earlier. Of course, I was still hoping that my calculations were wrong and that Tendulkar would achieve the record during the second Test itself!!

My prediction that Tendulkar would miss the record during March 16-20 came true. Now it remains to be seen whether my prediction that he will get the record on March 25 comes true! Being a big Tendulkar fan, I sure hope it does.

* * *

The technique of annual Tithi Pravesha charts comes from our tradition and is well-tested for generations. But the technique of daily Tithi Pravesha charts is my extrapolation and my research. It does not work reliably. There are cases where it works brilliantly and cases where it collapses. I don't know why and I am still working on it.

Members of vedic-astrology list may remember my Tendulkar prediction from Dec 2003. Based on the annual TP chart, I predicted that Tendulkar would have a complete reversal of fortune and a big score during Dec 26-Jan 4. While he made only 150+ runs during entire 2003, he made 302 runs (without getting out!) in just the first 4 days of 2004! Thus, my prediction of a reversal of fortune and a big score during that time came true.

However, I predicted the exact days when this big score would come and that part of the prediction went bust. I was wrong. I believe that I have made more progress in my DTPC (daily Tithi Pravesha chakra) researches since then, but still this is a work in progress. So any readings based on daily charts are not reliable. But the readings given above based on the annual chart should be good.

May Jupiter's light shine on us,
Narasimha

Mandi Calculations

Jaya Jagannatha
Dear Mike

Saturn is the planet that symbolises our sins and causes rebirth (perhaps that's why Saturn get digbala or directional strength in 7th house - none other does. this is the house of our desires - kaama). So Saturn is intricately linked to rebirth and is the key planet used for calculating the adhana i.e. conception charts. Mandi and Gulika are the children of Saturn and all chidren of planets are related to the significations of the planet. Mandi and Gulika symbolise the poison we gave to others and that we receive from others - its a two way traffic. You will find this two way traffic in all walks of life including this list where people are always trying to *out do* others in a competitive dog eat dog world.

Most westerners cannot understand this thing about India as to why do our people *bite* each other in public. Its not the fault of the people but that of an intense system of competition that as been created after *independance* due to the position of diabolical Rahu in the ascendant of India aspecting the 5th house (Indian population/public) and 7th house (foreign relations) and 9th house (policy). Reforms have started and while the government has reformed itself considerably with red tape gone etc, the people of India have yet to reform. you can see this in this list and many other forum. The exchanges are very *Mandi-Gulika* type where one Indian throws poison on another which is a *Mandi* generated action and then somewhere in this universe the karma has to rebound, and this rebound is *Gulika*...so Gulika is the same as Mandi but is inward or towards the native while Gulika is outward.

Many people say that they are the same, to which I say yes they are in nature but Prabhupada and other saints have emphasied on this rebound of karma which explains the Mandi-Gulika syndrome and the fact that although they are similar, they are different in action.

Now it is clear that *Mandi* alone represents the bad karma *we do (our action)* towards others. So we are to be reborn to face this karma and hence Mandi plays a significant role in our re-incarnation.

I hope someone can give Prabhupada's tale of the widow's of Vrindavan.

If there is one common thread we find in all great saints be it Jesus, Buddha or Shankara, it is just one tale 'get out of this Mandi-Gulika syndrome' by forgiving, forgetting and forging ahead'. The only answer to all the Gulika we get in life is AHIMSA. Hope this helps Mike.

With best wishes and warm regards,
Sanjay Rath

Saptamsa - D7

Jaya Jagannatha
Dear Rajiv

Death ends a life, not a relationship. [Jack Lemmon]

I am very sorry to hear this. Death is an inevitable event when the wind
stops blowing forever and we no loner feel heat nor cold.

Your chart...

The lagna lord in the fifth house normally indicates that the first child
will die. The fifth lord in 9th Jup is eka-putra yoga and this son brings
luck and fortune and the loss of the son brings bad luck and everything
becomes bad/terrible.
The following duryoga add to the calamity -
1. Mantra pada A5 or the Putra pada is with Mars aspected by Saturn and Rahu
2. The fifth house from karaka Jupiter is also afflicted by Mars, Saturn ad
Rahu (Joy of children shall be denied due to curse)
3. The fifth house frm the Moon has Saturn aspected by Mars (mental shock
due to sime such incident related to children or students)
4. Ketu in D7 Lagna - count reverse; 9th Lord Moon with Mars (male) son.
From Cancer Moon and Mars are in 8th house. This is marana sthana for Moon
(chandrastama) and is very evil also called rudra yoga showing very sudden
death due to fevers (Mars) and heat in the body.

The evils of Saturn aspecting Lagna with Mars in it is a kind of terrible
distress that can make someone socially a recluse. Some Jyotisha texts call
it unmaada yoga and the suffering is very terrible where nothing feels good
and you are totally sorrowful. That this will follow the death of a son is
from the combinations explained above. In the Saptamsa D7 chart, Mars
afflicts the Moon and the Sun and Saturn afflict the second from it.

To my knowledge there is only one remedy for this - worship of the avadhuta
avatara Keep chanting
'Dattatreya Hare Krishna'
and you will find a way. Go to Jagannath Puri with an open heart and pray
for help and you will find the way.

Fast on all Fridays without fail for the well being of your family and that
your son may attain peace and go ahead in the lokas. Offer your share of
food to the needy on Fridays, this is your Upapada... and you will find
peace in the mind.

Business will not suit you unless it is property related. Job is better.

What about another child?

With best wishes and warm regards,
Sanjay Rath

D24

Dear Sharma ji
Yes, you are right about the sidhamsa changing in 3 minutes. Yu are looking
at the lagna and possible placement of Moon in 12th. As such Moon in chara
rasi in D24 will make the mind wonder around unless stabilised by by slower
planets like Jup. However we have the 4th lord well placed in the 5th house
promising a good schooling and 9th lord Saturn also well placed and having
parivartana with Jupiter. If this chart is right then at the college level
he would have changed his major direction or subjects. Let Kartik confirm
before I write more.

One more thing. Whether it is K.N.Rao or B.V.Raman or Sanjay Rath, we are
only gurus trying our level best to share the knowledge we have and *our*
understanding of Paräsara. Why don't you read BPHS for yourself and see what
the sage has to say about seven chara Käraka scheme. According to Paräçara
and Jaimini the seven chara käraka scheme has Pitrikaraka and Putra käraka
is not there. However K.N.Rao school uses putrakaraka instead of
Pitrikaraka. I am not saying K.N.Rao is wrong or right as God alone knows
who is right. All I am asking yu to do is to read the slokas yourself and
see what Paräçara and Jaimini have to say.

With best wishes and warm regards,
Sanjay Rath

Mantra Devta

Jaya Jagannatha
Dear Ramesh Mishra ji
Namaste

The mantra you state is the most famous Narayana astakshari. Astakshari means eight akshara.
Example -1:
om na-mo naa-raa-ya-Naa-ya
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 = 8 akshara [Akshara = energy inflow, final result] = 8th house
1 2 3 = 3 words [Words = energy outflow, start of count] = 3rd house
Now count from 3rd house to 8th house, we get 6 houses
Now count as many houses from the 8th house. In this example we got 6 houses, so when we count six houses from 8th house, we get Lagna as the answer.
Final result = Naarayana is in LAGNA.

So the mantra devata Narayana sits in lagna and the recitation of this mantra gives good health, protection from all evils, long life and clear intellect. It is the greatest mantra for lagna suddhi and is one of the three mantras of the Narayana Kavacha. The greatest strength of this mantra is that it removes all kinds of nija dosha indicated by the 8th house or 8th lord and makes the lagna very strong.

Now study the dhyana or the meditation of the mantra devata. It starts as 'dhyaye sadaa savitrimandala madhyavarti Naaraayana..' and the reference is to the Sun which is the significator of Lagna and that Naraayana is in the centre of the solar orb.

The best mantras of the devatas always fall in the correct houses indicated for them. Then such mantra are called Prasiddha mantra and such mantra can only be originally given by the seers as they alone had such great sight and knowledge.

Example -2:

na-mah shi-vaa-ya
1 2 3 4 5 = 5 akshara = 5th house
1 2 = 2 words = 2nd house
Count from 2nd house to 5th house, we get 4 houses
Now count 4 houses from 5th house and we get 8th house. This is the house of Rudra and the panchakshari mantra has the power to give great knowledge as it cleanses the fifth house and finally this causes protection from all evils of 8th house where Shiva sits to protect you and grant longevity.

In this manner study the following
1. Surya astakshari
om ghri-ni suu-ry-aa-di-tya
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 = 8 akshara
1 2 3 = 3 words
Mantra devata = 1st house (Lagna)
What happens when this is pronounced differently by breaking surya and aaditya
om ghri-ni suu-rya aa-di-tya
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8= 8 akshara
1 2 3 4 = 4 words
Mantra devata = 12th house in marana karaka sthana
See the change how the position of the mantra devata changes from Lagna to the 12th house which is the marana karaka sthana for Sun.
Thus while reciting the mantra if the words are not spelt jointly as indicated it can do a lot of harm.

Exercise
1. om namo bhagavate vaasudevaaya
2. om namah shivaaya
3. om kshraum namo bhagavate narasimhaaya
4. om bhur namo bhagavate vyankateshaaya
5. brm brhaspataye namah
6. om namo bhagavate rudraaya
7. om namo bhagavate mahaamatsyaaya
8. gajamukha siddhirastu
9. hare raama krsNa
10. om hrim shrim krim paramesvari kaalike svaahaa
11. om namo bhagavate akuparaaya
12. vyam vedavyaasaaya namah

...just a start. I will give more exercise when we meet next sunday and explain from charts how to choose.

With best wishes and warm regards,
Sanjay Rath

Shodashamsa and Car Accidents.

D16 is the chart for all Sukha and Hence Cars come under this.

Here is some jist for analysing all yogas (combinations) in D16
  • A4 is to be considered for Cars. Here A4 should be taken in D16.
  • 6th and 8th house cause worries and anxieties respectively, in D16 they will show for matters related to cars and other sukha.
  • Marakas to sign of A4 will destroy the car. Marakas primarily being 2nd and 7th.
Now for Dasas which will activate the Yoga's mentioned above.

a) Vimshottari Dasha (+ Any special conditionals dasha applicable to the native's special yoga). One of the best methods to analyse Vimshottari dashas tripod method. Where you analyse Mahadasa from Sun Lagna, Antardasa from Moon Lagna and Pratyantara dasa from Lagna (All should be seen in D16).

b) Narayana Dasha of Divisional charts can also be very help full. Take the 4th lord of Rashi chart and see its placement in D16 to see how much blessings the person will get with respect to that divisional. Dasha started from this 4th Lord will indicate the changes in blessing with time.

At the time of accident

Vimsottari Dasa (started from Moon):

Ven MD: 1992-12-19 - 2012-12-19
Sun AD: 1996-04-17 - 1997-04-17
Ven PD: 1997-02-16 - 1997-04-17

MD Venus is in 4th house with respect to Aq-Sun. Which is good. Now Aq's lord is Rahu being conjoined with more number of planets. So Saturn becomes just 12th lord from Sun and hence malefics. Presence of 12th lord in 4th (All From Sun) is bad yoga. Thus we see some good yogas and bad yogas. Each of these good and bad will fructify over period of time in this Venus dasa. Specific's will be found in AD/PD etc

AD Sun: is in 4th house from Moon. it's the 10th lord from moon in 4th house. So Sukha in terms of vehicles can be coming from Profession in this AD. Sun is in Enemies sign so this Yoga between Planet and sign is bad. But 4th lord from Moon is Rahu debilitated in Scorpio of Maraka related purpose so some bad due to vehicles can be expected in this Dasa. Also Rahu's conj with debilated moon worsens the situation.

PD Venus: PD analysed from Lagna, We see the Venus LL in 8th house forming dushta yoga. conjoined 4th lord Saturn this surely indicates some bad times with vehicles.

Thus we can sequencially fine tune the All the indications of MahaDasa.

Now For Narayana Dasa of D16 (Pasted from Jagannatha Hora software)

Narayana Dasa of D-16 chart (a versatile phalita rasi dasa):

Pi MD: 1992-09-21 (4:07:14) - 2001-09-21 (11:19:34)

Antardasas in this MD:

Ar: 1992-09-21 (4:07:14) - 1993-06-19 (17:40:15)
Ta: 1993-06-19 (17:40:15) - 1994-03-19 (6:57:53)

>>> Vi: 1996-06-19 (12:01:44) - 1997-03-19 (1:18:47) <<<<
Li: 1997-03-19 (1:18:47) - 1997-12-20 (8:38:57)
Sc: 1997-12-20 (8:38:57) - 1998-09-21 (16:54:18)
Sg: 1998-09-21 (16:54:18) - 1999-06-20 (6:23:06)
Cp: 1999-06-20 (6:23:06) - 2000-03-18 (19:53:58)
Aq: 2000-03-18 (19:53:58) - 2000-12-20 (3:04:33)
Pi: 2000-12-20 (3:04:33) - 2001-09-21 (11:19:34)

Pisces Mahadasa is Running. From a glimpse we can say that Pisces is in 7th from A4, Hence Maraka. Pisces is also the 6th house. But Pisces being a benefic sign aspecting (Rashi Drishti) on A4 should also be good. Thus we can say there will be some good but also losses of Vehicles in this dasa.

Antardasa was of Virgo. Virgo is the 12th house having A4. But if you look at Bhoga(Enjoyment) which is calculated by counting as signs from MD to AD sign from AD sign, we calculate we get 7from pisces to Vi and then count 7 from Virgo. We reach Pisces Again so the Enjoyments will actually be Related to 6th house and Maraka to A4. So Loss of vehicle is seen.

I will try to see if I can analyse other data and write more.

Hope you find this interesting.

Thank you
Warm Regards
Sanjay P

Comments from Shree PVR Narasimha Rao
Dear Sanjay Prabhakaran,

D16 is the chart for all Sukha and Hence Cars come under this.

Here is some jist for analysing all yogas (combinations) in D16

>1. A4 is to be considered for Cars. Here A4 should be taken in D16.
>2. 6th and 8th house cause worries and anxieties respectively, in D16 they will show > for matters related to cars and other sukha.
>3. Marakas to sign of A4 will destroy the car.
> Marakas primarily being 2nd and 7th.
>
> Now for Dasas which will activate the Yoga's mentioned above.

Add badhaka sthana in shodasamsa also as a potential problem sign.

My birthdata is: 4th April 1970, 5:47:13 pm (IST), Machilipatnam, India

I had a vehicular accident on 5th December 1996 at 6:30 pm (EST), Wilmington, MA. I was not hurt, but the car was "totalled".

As per D-16 Narayana dasa, this happened in Li-Ta antardasa. In my D-16, Ta is the badhaka sthana and contains 3rd/12th lord Mercury and nodes. It is the 12th house from A4, showing the loss of a vehicle. It is also the 8th house from the 4th house, showing problems in sukha.

Those who are into the three parts of rule of Narayana dasa interpretation can test that too. Mahadasa sign Li is a seershodaya rasi. So it gives its results in the first one-third. Its lord Venus is also in a seershodaya rasi (Le). So he gives his results in the second one-third. The last one-third gives the results of occupants and aspectors. There are four candidates and they are Venus, Rahu, Ketu and Mercury in the order of longitudes. We divide the last one-third of the dasa into 4 equal parts and give them to these 4 planets in this order. The result of Rahu's aspect on mahadasa sign is given in Oct 1996-Aug 1997. Rahu is the 8th lord, occupies badhaka sthana and aspects the 4th house of vehicles Libra. So the sub-period in question resulted in vehicle problems. Not only did I have an accident in Dec 1996, but the new car I bought in Jan 1997 suffered too. It was hit by people twice when it was parked in a parking lot. I did not see who hit it, but someone hit it twice. After these repeated incidents, I sold
that "unlucky" car and bought another new car in Sept 1997. All these are due to the sub-period giving the results of Rahu's aspect on Li. It so happened that the antardasa was also of Ta, which contains Rahu.

As per Vimsottari dasa also, it was Mercury-Ketu antardasa.

In my annual Tithi Pravesha chart of 1996-97, D-16 had Leo rising, lagna lord Sun in 6h (!!) with 6th lord Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. Saturn-Saturn antardasa as per annual Tithi Ashtottari dasa was running from Dec 3 to Dec 6. Accident was on Dec 5!

The technique of Tithi Pravesha never seizes to amaze me!

May Jupiter's light shine on us,
Narasimha
